If your sound system is equipped with a DAB+/FM tuner, you have the option of controlling it directly via the app or selecting radio stations.

What problem do DAB+/FM radio stations solve?

Many of our sound systems have one or more integrated DAB+/FM receivers. They are able to receive analog (FM) and digital (DAB+) radio programs via antennas. Of course, you can also play the radio programs via web radio. But this means that data has to be constantly read via your home connection and your available bandwidth for other data services is limited. That's why we think that using classic radio is practical and perhaps also a little more environmentally friendly - because classic radio reception doesn't require servers and routers that have to constantly transmit audio data around the world.
The web radio services are very reliable - but a classic radio receiver does not know an Internet failure or an unavailable web radio station: This can be important for the daily alarm clock when it plays your radio station in the morning to wake you up. A possible connection problem to the radio streaming service is therefore excluded.

How do we implement DAB+/FM radio stations?

Many of our systems have built-in DAB+/FM receivers. This is a prerequisite for you to be able to use the stations.

The following systems have DAB+/FM built in:
With the SC340m and SC040m matrix devices, you can also access any existing SC311m or SC344m in your installation via USB-C. This means that if, for example, you operate an SC344m as a master and use another SC340m for zones 5-8, zones 5-8 can also access the receivers of the SC344m - simply via a USB-C connection from the SC340m to the SC344m. No streaming and no network - thanks to the matrix function of the devices.

Advantages of DAB+/FM radio stations

You can define up to 30 DAB+/FM radio stations and then simply switch between them.
The advantages of DAB+/FM are:
  • No connection setup as with web radio streaming - listen to your music immediately
  • Radio reception is fail-safe - you can listen to music even when the internet is down
  • Be sure that when you wake up with your radio station, you are actually listening to music and that an internet problem is not interfering with your alarm clock
  • When listening to DAB+/FM stations, you don't use up any bandwidth on your Internet connection

How can you customize DAB+/FM radio stations?

It is very easy to use DAB+/FM stations: If your sound system has the receiver built in, it will automatically show you the DAB+/FM radio source in the app. After you select it, your last station will start playing. When you start it for the first time, use "Scan" in the menu to search for your radio stations and save the ones you want to listen to regularly. After that, you can easily access the up to 30 saved stations again and again. A mix of FM and DAB+ stations is possible.

What restrictions do DAB+/FM radio stations have?

In order for your sound system to receive DAB+/FM, it needs a built-in receiver. Simply check the specifications to see if your device is equipped for this.

To enjoy DAB+/FM in the best quality, you should connect a suitable antenna. Check whether an aerial is already installed in your home, or alternatively use an indoor aerial. There are many models on the market - find a suitable antenna online or ask a specialist company for advice.
