Whether in doctors' surgeries, hotels or salesrooms: you often want to listen to the same music everywhere. Individual areas may want to be switched off or listen to different music, but it should always be easy to switch to general background music.

What problem does background music solve?

Whether in doctors' surgeries, hotels, offices or salesrooms, the same background music needs to be played throughout the building. Individual areas can be switched off or other music / microphone mixes can be heard, but it should always be easy to switch back to the background music.

And it should not be possible for everyone to change this music, otherwise you could accidentally change the music for the whole company from the control panel in the coffee kitchen.

How does trivum implement background music?

This function has been supported by trivum for a long time. In the configuration, a zone is selected as the "Background Music Sender". And from this moment on, all other zones have the "Background Music" action available. This transmitter zone determines the music in all other zones that also listen to background music. They then listen to the same music
However, the app only offers to select the music in the transmitter zone. All other zones only see the cover art and information about the music track in the app.

Advantages of background music

Simplicity in a commercial environment is crucial. Groupings would be far more complicated and error-prone. For individual areas, e.g. bars in the evening, multifunctional rooms, lounge areas, event areas, offices or coffee kitchens, it is easy to select your own music and then switch back to the company-wide music at the touch of a button.

How can you customize background music?

In the setup of a trivum system, Background Music must be active in the feature area. Background Music can then be found as an element in the main menu of the "Extras" area.

The following settings are possible

Selection of the station zone
If desired, the "Play Background Music" action is automatically displayed on every TouchPad and every app. If this is not selected, the action can be stored for individual apps, zones or globally in the "Actions" area of the setup
If desired, the transmitter zone is not stopped in the event of a "power off all zones" action.

What restrictions does background music have?

Zones that are currently playing background music or the transmitter zone cannot participate in groupings.
