Announcements and bells

The option of interrupting ongoing music in rooms with announcements is mostly used in commercial environments, e.g. in doctors' surgeries or sales rooms. Announcements can be started with KNX telegrams, the planner or the trivum actions, and can therefore be used very flexibly.

What problem does paging solve?

The option of interrupting ongoing music in rooms with announcements is mostly used in commercial environments:
  • In doctors' surgeries for the waiting room
  • In sales rooms
  • In public areas to announce people
These announcements do not necessarily require a microphone as a source; predefined texts can also be played "at the touch of a button" in the areas, which can be generated automatically using "Text2Speech".

How does trivum implement paging?

trivum supports microphone-based announcements, the playback of music files or the built-in "Text2Speech" function in individual areas or in a group of areas.

The pagings can be started with existing trigger inputs, KNX telegrams, the scheduler or the trivum actions and can therefore be used very flexibly.

Advantages of pagings

The pagings via "Text2Speech" in particular can be used very flexibly. Predefined texts can be used for many purposes and can be called up by events or trivum actions
  • "Please staff checkout 1" (retail)
  • "Please come up to eat" (apartment building with "children's call" over 2 floors)
  • "Mrs. xxx in room 3 please" (via microphone in the doctor's office)
  • "Someone is at the door" (doorbell 1)
  • "Someone is at the garden door" (doorbell 2)
  • "Movement detected behind the garage"

How can you customize pagings?

  • Selection of possible sources for paging
    • Line input (e.g. microphone)
    • Streaming (e.g. ringtone)
    • "Text2Speech" (e.g. please fill cash register 1)
  • Definition of the zone / group of zones in which the paging is to be played
  • Configuration of the volume and duration of paging
  • Option to play an audio file before paging, e.g. a chime for microphone announcements
  • Option to play an audio file repeatedly
  • Adjustment of the volume per participating zone

What restrictions do pagings have?

When using a line input, the participating zones must also be able to access the line input directly.

Analog Audio Extender Set
Audio extender set to transmit analog audio signals 300m What you need to know about the Audio Extender Set The trivum Audio Extender Set is a professional solution for transmitting analog audio signals over long distances using standard network cables. The set consists of 3 parts: Audio Transmitter XT:LINE Audio Receiver XR:LINE Power supply unit You can find a detailed description of the individual products as links in the 'Contents' tab or simply click on the list above. Features of the Audio Extender Set The trivum audio extender solution has the following advantages over direct connections (simple adapters or adapters with galvanic isolation): up to 300 metersThe active symmetrical transmission of the signals (audio + trigger + power supply) is the basis of the trivum Audio Extender solution. Interference-freeThe principle of balanced audio transmission minimizes noise caused by interference in the cable path. This complex technical solution is now standard in many studios due to its advantages. Hum-freeThe active galvanic isolation of the transmitter and receiver prevents hum loops caused by potential differences. Neutral soundIn contrast to the solution using passive galvanic isolation with transformers, the trivum solution has a better sound because transformers change the sound image and cut or distort the frequency response. The OP amps used in the active trivum extenders are technically far superior to the passive solution. No time delayIn contrast to products that work via IP networks, the trivum solution has no delay. IP solutions (wireless or cable) have to digitize the audio signal, then transmit the data in packets over the network, then reassemble it in a buffer and finally convert it into an audio signal. This takes too long to transmit lip-synchronized TV sound, for example. With trigger signalA trigger signal is passed potential-free from the transmitter to the receiver. The voltage is adjusted to 12V. The trigger input reacts with high impedance to voltages between 5V and 24V. The trigger signal is then available at the receiver with a load of 12V / 80mA. Groundlift switchGroundlift prevents ground loops as it separates the signal ground of the transmitter and receiver. Groundlift should therefore be active by default. In rare cases, however, it may be helpful not to activate Groundlift: If excessive interference is not produced by ground loops. This interference (whistling, humming, rattling) is caused by unclean switching power supplies or plug-in power supplies without earthing. Unproblematic placementIn contrast to passive galvanic isolation using transformers, the trivum solution is not magnetically susceptible to interference. The adapter can therefore be placed anywhere, even in the vicinity of power supply units.
