RTI Integration

RTI Corp is an American manufacturer of automation solutions. RTI manufactures remote controls, controllers, touch panels and audio products.

RTI's products are used for media control and also for more complex control systems. For example, RTI can be used to control a surround system together with a TV/projector and possibly also lifts and operate them with a single remote control.

What problem does the RTI interface solve?

The RTI interface extends the possibilities of the trivum system to control and integrate many consumer electronics devices. trivum itself is not specialized in device control, e.g. TVs, because each device is controlled differently in detail: via infrared, network, serial interfaces or other protocols.

RTI specializes in supporting the protocols of the various devices and controlling them via a common user interface. For this reason, trivum also provides an RTI driver so that RTI can use the functions of a trivum multiroom system and integrate them into a comprehensive automation solution. At the same time, the RTI driver also makes it possible to start RTI commands from the trivum app.

How does trivum implement the RTI interface?

The trivum RTI Interface is an RTI driver that can be downloaded free of charge from the trivum website. The ZIP file contains all the necessary files for an RTI integrator to access your trivum Multiroom system.

How can you customize the RTI interface?

The trivum RTI driver provides its many functions within the RTI Designer.

The driver itself is configured with just a few variables:

  • Number of zones
  • debug

Within the trivum setup, only a few options are necessary to connect an RTI controller to your trivum multiroom system

  • send On/Off/Mute/Unmute Events to RTI Controller

    With this option, the trivum Multiroom System can trigger events in the RTI system when the status of zones changes. These events can then be linked to actions within RTI that e.g. switch a device on/off

  • Control RTI Tracing Level

    This option allows you to examine the internal processes of your trivum Multiroom System more closely

  • Browse RTI Trace

    Here you can get extended information about the runtime

  • Edit list of RTI Commands which maps to trivum Actions

    Within the RTI Designer it is possible to start trivum actions of your trivum Multiroom system. This is done via names. In RTI, for example, "Paging1" is used as a parameter for a trivum command. The trivum Multiroom uses this name to find the correct command in the list of RTI commands and triggers the associated trivum action.

  • List of zone IDs

    Since the connection of the zones between trivum and RTI takes place via IDs, the IDs of the trivum zones are listed here.

What are the limitations of the RTI interface?

  1. The trivum RTI driver package does not include a sample project for RTI xxxx projects
  2. The trivum RTI driver is "as is". This means that as it is free of charge, our Support is limited. Therefore we do not guarantee the correct function of the driver. It is used successfully in many projects and we endeavor to correct any errors that may occur quickly.
  3. We recommend that you do not make the integration too complex. The possibilities of the trivum driver are very extensive. RTI developers should have familiarized themselves with the product in detail before using it at the customer's site
  4. trivum provides the driver free of charge.
    Note: We are therefore unable to offer support with installation or error analysis in customer situations. If you have any problems, you can only contact us by e-mail at service@trivum.com. Although we do not guarantee Support for the driver and do not guarantee that the driver will work, we will endeavor to provide reasonable assistance.
