1. Match loudspeakers via DSP in the multiroom system
1.1. Which problem does the DSP solve?
When playing music, a lot depends on the speakers and the room. Many rooms have built-in wall speakers. Partially also invisible loudspeakers. These are loudspeakers that are installed behind the wall, so the wall in front of them can be plastered over.
Since built-in speakers are not ideal and invisible speakers change music playback significantly, it is necessary to adapt the music signal to the speakers: where speakers cannot reproduce frequencies well, the electronics in this frequency range have to increase the volume. In other areas where loudspeakers hum or form natural resonances, the electronics have to lower the music signal.
The finer and more effective this sound shaping is made possible by a multi-room system, the better the music is reproduced in the room as a result.
1.2. How does trivum implement the DSP?
DSP stands for "Digital Sound Processor". Every trivum system has one or more such DSPs installed. In addition to other tasks, the DSP takes over the shaping of the sound and provides many tools for effectively influencing the sound.
At trivum, the DSP is used for the following tasks:
-
Easy sound adjustment
-
Support for invisible speakers
-
Support for subwoofer speakers
-
Satellite speaker support
-
"Input Sensing" to switch on zones for music signals at line inputs
-
Zone volume control
-
Switching sources to zones
-
Mixing multiple sources
1.3. Benefits of DSPs
Compared to conventional sound controls that only provide for control of the treble and bass ranges, the trivum DSP is much more powerful.
1.4. How can you customize DSPs?
-
5 parametric equalizers with the following characteristics
-
Freely selectable frequency
-
Selectable quality, i.e. how wide the range around the selectable frequency should be
-
Cut / boost this range by +/- 15db
-
-
Selectable high pass filter
-
Selectable low pass filter
-
Adjustable loudness
-
Treble control
-
Bass control
-
Adjustable bass boost
1.5. What are the limitations of the trivum DSPs?
Not all trivum devices fully support all described functions.
