1.1. What is KNX?

KNX allows to control home devices like lights, shutters or audio remotely, through hard keys in the wall.

1.2. Which problem does the KNX Interface solve?

Normally, you select music at trivum by the trivum app on your mobile phone.

However, you may not want to use the mobile everytime to run music.

For example, if you have a favorite web radio station, you may prefer to press a hard key in the wall to play it immediately.

This can be done through the KNX interface.

1.3. How does trivum implement the KNX Interface?

You need a KNX IP Router which translates KNX messages from wires in the wall to network messages in your LAN. Then you can select that IP router at trivum, and start configuring your trivum device, to react to KNX messages.

For example, you can define events like, "if KNX message 1/2/3 1-bit 1 is received, play my favorite web radio".

1.4. What are the limitations of the KNX Interface?

As messages are sent by IP into the network, you need a reliable LAN installation.
