1.1. What problem does a Source Mix solve?

In commercial installations, especially in the meeting/conference room environment, several microphones are sometimes used at the conference tables. It is necessary to support a kind of talk button. The talk button turns a single microphone into a speaker microphone. The sensitivity of the other microphones is then automatically reduced so that the current speaker has a higher volume through the loudspeakers.

1.2. How does trivum implement Source Mixes?

Thanks to the KNX support of the trivum systems together with the possibility of offering several line inputs for microphones, e.g. trivum SC344m are suitable for such conference rooms with the speaker circuit.

So-called source mixes are created to emphasize individual microphones: To do this, several line inputs are activated in a mix and a volume is defined for each line input (microphone). These source mixes can then be activated using a KNX telegram. This means that every KNX button can be used as a button for a speaker microphone. If no KNX is available, existing trigger inputs of the trivum systems can also be used for button recognition.

In addition to KNX and triggers, source mixes can of course be activated by actions in the app or a touchpad. If a mix is active in a zone, the sensitivity (volume) of the inputs (microphones) can also be readjusted there immediately.

1.3. Benefits of Source Mixes

A conference room with several microphones can be supported with a trivum system without any external mixer and without an extra controller/control unit. The configuration is simple and the loudspeakers can also be used in the rooms in a different context, for example for background music.

1.4. How can you customize Source Mixes?

A trivum system can define up to 16 source mixes. The line inputs that take part in the mix and the input sensitivity (volume) are defined for each mix. It is also possible to define whether the volume can still be adjusted in the app at runtime for the respective mix, if it is active in a zone.

1.5. What are the limitations of Source Mixes?

  • The trivum device must support more than one line input

  • The zone in which the source mix is to be activated must have access to all line inputs
